Geriatric Care
Geriatric Care
Geriatric care focuses on the physical needs that often change with age, including reduced strength, joint stiffness, balance concerns, and slower recovery after illness or injury. Our team works with older adults to support mobility, safety, and day-to-day function through individualized physical therapy plans.
Common Concerns We Address
- Balance and Fall Risk — unsteadiness, dizziness, or a history of falls that affect confidence in walking.
- Joint and Muscle Changes — stiffness, weakness, or pain from arthritis and general deconditioning.
- Post-Illness or Post-Surgical Recovery — regaining strength and independence after hospitalization or a medical event.
- Chronic Pain — ongoing discomfort that limits daily activities like walking, dressing, or household tasks.
How We Support Older Patients
Treatment plans are built around each patient's current abilities and goals, with attention to pacing and safety.
- Balance Assessment and Training — our Biodex Balance Program is used to evaluate balance and guide targeted exercises to reduce fall risk.
- Strength and Mobility Work — gradual, guided exercise to maintain or rebuild function.
- Pain Management Support — options such as Cold Laser Therapy may be incorporated when appropriate to help manage discomfort.
If you or a family member are noticing changes in strength, balance, or mobility, our team can help determine an appropriate course of physical therapy.
